Strategic & Compassionate Response

to COVID-19 Pandemic

A note from our lead pastor:

“Grace and Peace to you in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! I know this time in our country seems crazy and very out of control. But I assure you that God is indeed still and always in control. Psalm 27:1 says,  “The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?” Nothing is out of his grasp or His timeline. Revelation 1:17 says “Then He placed His right hand on me and said: Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.” Check out my message [on March 15] if you missed it. It will encourage you and strengthen your faith. Get the video via Facebook or Podcast from c2church.com.”

Give Hope, Get Hope

With the global pandemic, life has been changing at a rapid-pace for all of us. Yet, while coronavirus has affected life for everyone, Jesus changed everything for us. He continues to transform our dead-end lives into the very hope of humanity–His image. As his image-bearers in the world, we are compelled by His love to serve our local community in any way we can. Whether you find yourself in need of help or with the ability to help others, start the questionnaire to the right to get more info about opportunities for you.

The One Where We Can See Each Other

May 15th, 2020|

Dear C2 Family,

We have exciting news for you! Beginning Sunday, May 31st, we are planning to begin family services on our campus. We will be having 3 identical services at 8:30AM, 10AM and 11:30AM. For those who want to worship with us from home, we will continue to provide our online service available at 10AM.  In our decision-making process, the team has desired to honor God, care for the C2 Church family, love and care for our neighbors, and scripturally submit to governing authority (Romans 13:1, 1 Peter 2:11-15).

We will be opening with reasonable safety guidelines in place, including ongoing sanitation and dedicated entry/exit points. At this time, we will not have our C2 Kids services which normally instructs children 6 weeks old-5th grade.  We will have an adjusted seating plan in the auditorium and overflow in the venue to accommodate social distancing. Because of the community guidelines in place, we are limited in our capacity and ask that you help us by reserving your seat(s). We will give more details and instructions on what to expect as we get closer to our reopening.

How you can help:

  • Stay up-to-date. Text “Update” to (573) 397-7389
  • Please go online to reserve your seat(s). This will help us plan accordingly for our space. We will announce the link in the coming weeks.
  • If you don’t feel well or have health concerns, please stay home and join us for church online at 10AM at C2Church.com or on Facebook @C2churchcomo.
  • If you would like to join our team in serving, you can see the opportunities and sign up HERE.

Until May 31st, we encourage you to gather with your Life Group or other friends, families, and neighbors in a reasonable group size to worship together! Yes, YOU THE CHURCH can lead the way even (and especially) outside the walls of the building. God’s greatest good and the church’s biggest opportunities might just be hidden in this season. Let’s be faithful and discerning, walking in wisdom and grace.

So if you can, join us Sunday, May 31st – Pentecost Sunday!

We love you all,
Pastor Jeremy and Darci

P.S. We can’t wait to see you tonight at Drive-In Worship at 6:30 pm!

Covid-19 Re-entry Update

May 6th, 2020|

Dear C2 Family,

Darci and I miss you all so much! We miss seeing your faces and giving you hugs and high-fives.  If absence makes the heart grow fonder, our fondness of you is overwhelming!

Many of you, like us, are wondering when we can gather again to worship and fellowship in-person. To tell you the truth, I was hoping it would be much sooner. I know many of us have grown weary of the guidelines and restrictions. Our team has been praying for you all, especially those whose livelihoods have been affected by these economy-crushing dictates.

As everyone adjusts to everything reopening, we too are prayerfully discussing how our church can also reopen. The county and city restrictions make it difficult for a church our size to navigate exactly how and when to reopen.  We desire to balance honoring those in authority while also not surrendering our right to freely assemble and worship.  Our first priority is to honor God in all that we do. We desire to operate in a way that keeps people safe but not operate out of fear of disease, government, or public opinion. We understand and honor those who are ready to get out and resume life and those who want or need to be more cautious.

For at least the next two Sundays (May 10th and 17th), we will continue our online-only services on Sunday.  We have scheduled two Friday Night Drive-in Worship and Prayer services on May 15th and 29th at 6:30 pm. Our team, as we have been, will continue to assess and decide our next steps and communicate them to you.

We are also using this time to finish our foyer renovation that was put on hold when this crisis first started.  We are now into the reconstruction phase and we want to be able to welcome everyone back in the building with less of a mess and more of it completed.

I’m reminded of the Apostle Paul’s words to Timothy in  2 Timothy 1:3-6:
I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith… For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

I ask you to continue to worship with us online. Don’t just watch. Worship. Don’t multitask. Take notes. Teach your kids.  Host a watch party with unchurched friends and family. Gather with another family to worship. Get a small group together to worship. Don’t stop being The Church. The Mission has not stopped.

Until we meet again or Jesus returns,

Pastor Jeremy and Darci Risner

Love in Name of Christ

April 24th, 2020|

C2 Family,

I look forward to worshipping with you again this weekend. We really are a church without walls. One church, many locations! Even if it is online, my heart joins with yours in worshipping God. I find joy and strength as your pastor knowing we continue to worship each week together in spirit.

“God is bringing us through.” That’s what I keep telling people and encouraging them with. God will see us all through this. May this season refine us, refresh us, and bring us to repentance. My prayer for all of us is that we will know Jesus better when this storm passes. I am asking God for a new level of faith for myself, and for us all, to trust Him and His ways.

In the meantime, let us continue to share the Gospel. Let’s invite people into faith and hope in Jesus. Let’s grow together as disciples as we help disciple others. Let’s continue to care for one another as Jesus cares for us.

What needs do you have? Is there a need in your life that your C2 Church family can help meet? You can let us know at C2Church.com/Hope.

People continue to ask me how they can help.  Perhaps you, like others, are wondering how your stimulus money can make the biggest difference. Some families are in desperate need of that money, while others are deciding what they are going to use this “extra” money for. I believe one way you can invest what you have received would be Kingdom Builders.

Kingdom Builders is our way of committing to people and projects that help build God’s Kingdom in meaningful ways here and now. We have over 50 missionary and ministry partners all around the globe, and right here in mid-Missouri, that we support on a monthly basis. Each year we commit Kingdom Builder funds to people and projects as well. One of our long-time community partners, Love, INC is in need of greater financial support during this crisis.  Since the pandemic hit, they have served more homeless families (17) with children in a few weeks than they see in a single year. They depend on donations from the community, including churches like ours. Love INC helps to meet immediate needs like temporary housing, food, and personal care as well as helping them with unemployment paperwork, budgeting and re-entering the workforce. As the economic toll of this crisis rolls forward, their ability to meet the need is limited. But this is what Kingdom Builders is all about! Their name literally stands for “Love In the Name of Christ.”  We are able to respond with generosity in this moment because of the ongoing generosity of our people through Kingdom Builders. So today, we have committed above our monthly support of Love, INC, an immediate $5,000 to be followed up by another $5,000 in the next few months.

If you haven’t yet, would you consider becoming a Kingdom Builder, either through a one-time gift or a recurring gift? Every dollar goes directly to support our missionary and ministries partners.

Thank you for your partnership in the mission as we share the love of Christ,

Pastor Jeremy

A Letter from The Lead Pastor

March 27th, 2020|

Dear C2 Family,

In these unprecedented times, we can be sure God is still with us and in control.  Though times might be uncertain, I am certain that God is doing some of His best work in us. I know it has caused me to seek Him more and lean not on my own understanding. I am learning to trust him each day.

I know many of you are affected differently because of job situations: healthcare workers and first responders, “non-essential” employees who can’t work, and small business owners who are wondering if they can make it through all this.

All of the changes that we are facing does not change the fact that we are the Church. So, each Sunday at 10AM, we will continue to worship together. It may just be from our living rooms with church online at c2church.com instead of in our physical building. We are one church in many locations! Our homes will be each of our base of operations to reach more and more people for the Gospel.

The Pastoral Team at C2 is doing our best to provide resources, daily content via digital means, and even personal contact through old school phone calls! We are working hard to keep us all connected and use this time as a catalyst for personal and spiritual growth. Keep up to date on our Facebook (@c2churchcomo) and on our website at c2church.com.

Our ministry not only continues but grows stronger because of your faithfulness in giving. Your financial gifts are more important than ever during this time of crisis. The best way you can give right now is online at c2church.com/give. If you need help setting up your online giving, please email Jenny Johnson, our Business Director, at jennyj@c2church.com. If you are unable to give online, gifts can still be mailed to 3300 S. Providence Rd, Columbia, MO 65203. Our staff will be checking that frequently.

We know that COVID-19 has disrupted our everyday normal. Along with that, we understand that some of you have been affected more than others. If that is you, we, as your C2 Family, want to pray with you and support you during this time. Please email us at  info@c2church.com

Our God will not fail us in this time. I can’t wait to worship with you in person soon. Until then, let’s find creative ways to grow our faith and connection as well as encourage and support one another.

May His Kingdom Come,

Pastor Jeremy Risner

7 Things You Should Know For Church This Weekend

March 17th, 2020|

As of now, all on-campus meetings (Bible studies, Youth ministry, etc) are suspended until April 6th. For the next two Sundays, we will utilize our online campus for a single, 10AM service together. Please plan on joining your church family for this time together. Even though we are separated by space, we will still gather as the body of Christ. Stream with us live on Sunday right HERE!

7 things you should know for this weekend:

  1. Our live feed will start at 9:45AM with our hosts available to respond to questions and bringing updates to you.
  2. We will start our service at 10AM in worship through singing.
  3. We will share together in the Word of God and prayer.
  4. Our C2 Kids ministry will also have resources available to help the whole family participate.
  5. We also will receive communion together as an act of community, celebrating the Lord’s Supper. Plan on having something like bread or a cracker as well as juice (or something) as symbols of Jesus’ broken body and shed blood. (Dr. Pepper and a goldfish cracker will count!)
  6. Drive-thru Prayer: Following service from 11AM-Noon, we are going to have “drive-thru prayer.” If you would like someone to pray with, we encourage you to drive under the awning of the church and pray with the church team and leadership from the safety of your car.
  7. You can give online. During this uncertain time, your giving helps sustain the ministry operations of C2 Church. You can give at c2church.com/give.

Additional Notes:

As of now, we are just looking at the next couple of weeks and will make further decisions down the road as things develop.

Water Baptisms: We want to be able to celebrate water baptisms as a church family. With this in mind, we are postponing them for now. Our plan as of now is to celebrate as soon as we can once we meet as a large group again.

You can get involved! We are actively working on ways for you to get involved as we navigate COVID-19 together. We are starting to organize potential neighborhood campuses, as well as opening up multiple ways for people to step up and be the church that God is calling us to be!

If you want to get text updates from C2 Church with updates with services and events, text “update” to 573-397-7389.
